We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, community connection, and creating a vibrant, fun, and safe environment.As General Manager, you'll lead operations across all departments to deliver an outstanding guest experience while managing cost, staff, compliance, and growth.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipOversee all day-to-day pub operations: bar, floor, events, etc.Ensure high standards of service, hospitality, and guest satisfactionManage opening, closing, and shift handoversMonitor & maintain cleanliness, health & safety, licensing, and compliance with local regulationsFinancial ManagementAssist in preparing and managing the annual budget and forecasts.Monitor revenue, costs, margins (especially for drinks, staffing)Control wastage, theft, stock variancesOversee procurement, stock ordering, inventory and supplier relationshipsEnsure accurate cash handlingStaff & Team ManagementRecruit, train, develop, and motivate pub staff (bar and cleaning)Create rosters that balance service needs and labour cost efficiencyConduct performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions when necessaryLead by exampleMarketing, Promotion & Guest EngagementWork with marketing or independently to plan and execute promotions, events (quiz nights, live music, specials)Monitor guest feedback, reviews, and social media presenceReporting & CommunicationPrepare regular reports (weekly, monthly) on sales, costs, KPIs, staffingCommunicate with ownersParticipate in strategic planning to grow the businessRequired Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience in a senior management role in hospitality, bar, or restaurant (3+ years preferred)Strong financial acumen — budgeting, cost control, P&L managementExcellent leadership, communication, and people management skillsAbility to work under pressure, multi-task, and make decisions on the flyKnowledge of licensing laws, health & safety, hygiene standardsFamiliarity with POS / bar systemsFlexible availability — evenings, weekends, holidaysDesirable QualitiesPassion for the pub / hospitality industryCreative mindset for promotions, events, and improving operationsLocal knowledge of Athlone or surrounding areaStrong network in suppliers or local communityCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary (to be discussed)Sign on BonusOpportunities for training & career growthFlexible scheduling / time offJob Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: €40,000.00-€65,000.00 per yearWork Location: In person
