Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Clerk of Works to oversee the redevelopment, refurbishment, and extension of a protected structure in Cork.

This involves alterations, renovation, and repurposing of existing buildings, partial demolition, and a new seven-story extension to provide public exhibition areas, a café, storage, studios, and staff facilities.

Key responsibilities include internal reordering, reconfiguring existing layouts, altering and replacing internal joinery, relocating a 16th-century fireplace, upgrading stairs and steps, and creating new connections to the extension.

External envelope works such as window replacement and refurbishment, curtain wall glazing upgrades, door replacement, pointing renewal, brick and stonework cleaning and repair, and roof renewal and thermal upgrades will also be undertaken.

Mechanical and electrical services will be replaced and upgraded, and intermediate floors, structural elements, and building fabric will undergo fire and defect upgrades.

The Senior Clerk of Works will report to our clients' Project Manager and ensure that all materials and works comply with planning permission, building regulations, quality standards, and design specifications.

This involves liaising with the contractor, subcontractors, the Employers Representative, and the Design Team, while maintaining independence.

Duties also include conducting inspections, surveys, taking measurements and samples, maintaining detailed records, and preparing reports.

The successful candidate will monitor and report on the coordination of activities, project progress, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
