The Group's Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Microbiology Laboratory team on a work placement. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment, supporting critical microbiological testing and analysis processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare media and maintain accurate records.
* Perform microbiological analysis of powder, butter, cream, and environmental samples.
* Prepare samples for dispatch for pathogen analysis.
* Conduct daily analysis of process water.
* Perform calibration checks on product test equipment and record results.
* Carry out daily positive and negative QC checks on media.
* Analyse rinse water samples for ATP and pH as verification of cleaning procedures.
* Conduct investigative sampling and testing to improve product quality and hygiene standards.
* Use SAP for product batch traceability.
* Input samples and record results in LIMS.
* Perform shelf-life analysis of retained finished product samples.
* Participate in proficiency testing and split sample testing as required
Required for this role :
Currently studying or recently completed a qualification in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related discipline.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
* Good IT skills experience with SAP and LIMS is an advantage.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
