Overview
Provides participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning, and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Eligibility will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Responsibilities
Work alongside an experienced team member and receive mentorship.
Gain experience working with various metal materials and industrial gases.
Correctly use power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, and hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers.
Follow safety procedures and meet production targets.
Interact daily with co-workers, supervisors, and quality control personnel.
Communicate effectively and follow instructions.
Learn all aspects of a busy workshop and apply finishing techniques such as grinding, polishing, deburring, or coating surfaces.
Training and Support
This is a training and work experience opportunity, no prior experience required. Accredited and/or sector‑recognised training will be provided.
Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.
Formal Training: WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, Manual Handling Certification, Health & Safety Awareness Training.
Informal Training: Warehouse Operations Introduction Training, Safe use of warehouse tools and equipment, Stock systems and basic inventory processes, Fire safety.
