The ideal candidate will have strong Python and SQL skills and extensive experience working with large datasets.Role OverviewThis role sits within a data-focused team responsible for developing and enhancing a sophisticated pricing and optimisation engine. The team builds algorithms that evaluate multiple constraints and targets to determine optimal pricing outcomes.The successful candidate will contribute to the development of business logic, testing frameworks, and code management processes, while also gaining exposure to advanced data science workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and extend business logic within a Python-based pricing or decision engine.Create automated test suites using Python and SQL.Manage code across development environments, including branching, merging and release preparation.Explore and interpret large datasets to uncover insights, trends, and anomalies.Work closely with team members and stakeholders to analyse requirements and troubleshoot issues.Produce clear documentation for implemented logic and processes.Deliver high-quality, well-structured code aligned with established standards.Operate independently when required, while collaborating effectively in a team environment.Follow existing delivery methodologies and best-practice engineering guidelines.Experience/RequirementsRequired Skills:Degree in computer science, data science, engineering or a related discipline.Strong hands-on experience in Python and SQL.Demonstrated capability in data analysis and problem-solving.Familiarity with modern software delivery practices, including Agile methodologies, version control, testing approaches, and structured deployment processes.Experience using GitHub or similar platforms for code management.Desirable SkillsExposure to data science methodologies or machine-learning workflows.Experience with cloud-based analytics services (e.g., Azure).Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and containerisation technologies.Advanced technical qualification (e.g., MSc or PhD in a related field).Remuneration PackageStrong rates are on offer for this role.ContactPlease contact Derek Smyth on or email or simply click the apply button.To view all live jobs with Brightwater and market insights, please visit our website
