Chief Financial Officer role at Blackrock Clinic – responsible for setting and implementing the finance strategy, overseeing capital expenditure, financial systems, and supporting the CEO and Board with financial governance and decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of Blackrock Clinic’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the wider Blackrock Health Group’s €500m investment programme.
Provide insightful, data‑driven financial advice to the CEO and Executive Team, influencing hospital‑wide decision‑making.
Support long‑term growth through commercial analysis, service line profitability reviews, and capital investment planning.
Contribute to strategic decisions relating to expansion, new services, partnerships, digital transformation, and operational improvement.
Oversee robust budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring, and financial reporting.
Ensure full compliance with financial, regulatory, and audit requirements.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls, risk management frameworks, and financial governance structures.
Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecast cycles across all hospital departments.
Ensure accurate financial oversight of all capital, ICT, and operational readiness workstreams.
Support evaluation, business cases, and financial modelling for major capital investments, technology upgrades, and clinical service expansions.
Ensure financial transparency and provide timely insights to governance forums and Boards.
Commercial & Operational Performance
Lead commercial analysis, pricing strategies, and financial optimisation initiatives to support growth and margin improvement.
Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and maximise resource utilisation.
Drive innovation in financial systems, digital tools, and analytics to enhance visibility and decision‑making.
Support pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and financial performance discussions with insurers and other funding partners.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance team.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and service excellence.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders—including consultants, insurers, suppliers, auditors, regulators, and Group peers.
Represent Blackrock Clinic at Group‑level financial forums as required.
Senior finance leadership experience in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment—healthcare, large‑scale services, regulated sectors, or capital‑intensive industries beneficial.
Proven ability to lead financial strategy in environments undergoing major transformation, growth, or capital investment.
Strong track record of financial governance, commercial acumen, and operational insight.
Demonstrated experience partnering at Executive and Board level.
Expertise in business case development, risk assessment, and long‑term financial planning.
Qualifications and Experience
A qualified Accountant with a minimum of ten years senior financial management experience in a significantly complex and fast‑paced environment.
Proven commercial and financial leader with a strong track record of maximising profitability of an operating entity.
Experience ideally from medical, health services or insurance and/or a deep appreciation and understanding of the challenges associated with pricing, contracts and insurers.
Excellent financial and leadership experience in management, financial operations, fiscal affairs, strategic financial planning, internal controls and compliance.
Working knowledge of government and insurance reimbursement payment methodologies, including contractual accounting, payment calculations, billing requirements and compliance issues.
