Wicklow Dementia Support CLG is looking for an enthusiastic individual who shares our mission and vision; for each person with dementia to be supported and enabled in a way that respects, values and understands them for who they are, to join the Board as Treasurer.The small charityprovides a number of supports for people living with dementia and family carers in Co. Wicklow including AlzPals befriending service, Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy groups in Arklow, Carnew, Wicklow town and Bray, Musical Memories and a Carer Support group in Greystones. The overall role of a Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial affairs, ensuring its viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained as below:General financial oversightTo oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statementsTo liaise with the Board regarding all financial mattersTo ensure that appropriate account procedures and controls are in placeTo ensure compliance with relevant legislationTo ensure accounts meet the conditions of contractual agreements with external agencies such as funders and statutory bodiesTo ensure annual insurance is paid and appropriate cover is in place to indemnify the charityFinancial planning and reportingTo present financial reports to the BoardTo make a presentation of the accounts at the annual general meeting (AGM)To advise on the organisation’s reserves and asset managementTo advise on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic and operational plansTo undertake an annual risk assessmentTo submit annual accounts to Company Register Office (CRO) and Charities Regulator Authority (CRA)Qualities and skills required:Experience of financial control and budgetingGood communication and interpersonal skillsA willingness to be contacted on an ad hoc basisAbility to ensure decisions are taken and followed upTime Commitment RequiredThe role of the treasurer requires an estimated commitment of ten hours per month.There are eleven board meetings a year. Meetings are held online. Support and an opportunity to role shadow will be provided.
