Simplicitas has been providing bespoke support packages for people with a range of disability and mental health needs since ****, enabling all those who choose supported independence over traditional models of care the opportunity to live and shape their own lives, regardless of levels of support required.
About the role: As a Social Care Worker you will plan and provide professional care to vulnerable adults who have been diagnosed with disability or mental health conditions, and who require additional supports to live an equal life in the community.
These groups often experience marginalisation, disadvantage and stigma.
You will protect, champion advocate, guide, and support your clients, equip them with skills and empower them to live their lives to the full.
Job Overview: In performing the role of Social Care Worker at Simplicitas, you are expected to maintain high standards of professional conduct at all times, and to commit to maintaining and improving your own competence in the role through continuous professional development, education and training.
You will maintain standards of professional conduct by always actingin the best interests of your client and always showing your clients and colleagues respect, maintaining confidentiality, dignity and privacy in their lives.
You will exhibit high standards of personal conduct by always maintaining a boundary between your personal and professional life, being cognisant of the need to maintain a high standard of role modelling in your work, protecting your own reputation and that of your client and the organisation by being aware of the risks and pitfalls associated with careless or impulsive social media posts, and informing your manager of any potential conflict of interest that may arise between your personal life and your professional role.
You will maintain high standards of performance by ensuring that any issues relating to your physical or mental health which may affect your fitness to practice are addressed, and always acting within the limits of your skills, competence, remit and experience.
You will obey the laws of Ireland both inside and outside your workplace, and familiarise yourself with, and observe, all legislation and guidance relevant to your role, and associated codes of practice.
You will keep yourself informed in relation to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, and practice according to current requirements, and you will have a good understanding of consent issues, including how to determine whether a person has the capacity for consent, and when to refer for ADM assessment.
You will have effective communication skills across all relevant domains, and will understand and act in accordance with principles of open disclosure, keeping accurate records across all areas of activity.
You will, at times, assist, support and advise less experienced or recently qualified colleagues, up to and including assisting with observations and assessments in the workplace where relevant to their ongoing study, and where you delegate tasks to others you will supervise their completion.
You will also be able to assess health safety and welfare risks, both for individual clients, and across the workplace, and you will be familiar with Whistleblowing and Protected Disclosure Procedures and raise any concerns about the safety and quality of care.
As a Social Care Worker you will maintain the highest standards of professional ethics, including a strong awareness of, and commitment to, the rights of your clients, a commitment to honesty and integrity in every aspect of your work, and accuracy in any exchanges of information.
