NexVentur is seeking to hire a Setting Out Engineer on behalf of a leading Tier 1 main contractor and heavy civils specialist in the East, with a 15 months project in Maynooth, Co. Kildare.Operating on a major scale across the UK and Ireland, this contractor is renowned for executing urban infrastructure, high-density residential concrete structures (RC frames), and critical commercial developments.This is a site-based role where you will work on all surveying, levelling, and dimension control.You will act as the key link between the design office and the physical construction crews, ensuring all works - from bulk earthworks and drainage lines to structural steel anchoring and RC slab casting - are delivered to exact tolerances and comply fully with BCAR frameworks.Role & ResponsibilitiesSetting out, surveying, and level checks across the site using high-specification robotic instruments.Review, cross-reference, and interpret architectural and structural engineering models (AutoCAD/BIM) to identify and rectify design discrepancies before construction begins.Establish and maintain impeccable on-site quality control metrics, including grid checks, concrete pre-pour sign-offs, and deep utility location logs to satisfy Building Control Regulations (BCAR).Complete detailed as‑built surveys and update site models progressively to ensure perfect final records for the client handover.Provide clear, precise reference points, datums, and offsets to site foremen, direct labourers, and groundworks sub‑contractors.Take responsibility for checking, maintaining, and calibrating all on-site surveying and testing equipment to ensure zero margin of error.Skills & ExperienceDegree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Geomatics, or a closely related technical field.2+ years' of hands‑on experience working as a Site Engineer/Setting Out Engineer with a main contractor or heavy civil engineering sub‑contractor in Ireland or the UK.Experience in operating modern robotic survey stations (Leica TS16/TS18 or Trimble equivalents) and GPS/GNSS rover units.Competency in AutoCAD for data extraction, level processing, and reading coordinate files.Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates.
