Responsibilities
Ensure health, safety, environmental, sustainability and quality standards are integrated into all designs and design outputs.
Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Control & Automation, Civil and Structural disciplines to achieve optimal design solutions.
Compile and review site surveys, condition reports, and electrical load balances, including MIC load calculations.
Design medium voltage systems, generator sizing for backup applications, lighting and emergency lighting, earthing and lightning protection, and cable sizing/schedules.
Review I/O of listings, control panel drawings, schematics and specialist reports on harmonics, and recommend mitigation equipment.
Design solar PV, battery storage, and small renewable generators.
Undertake site surveys and preliminary condition reports on existing infrastructure/assets.
Procure LV and MV works: Main Distribution Boards, MCCs, control panels, automation hardware/software, starters, transformers, MV switchgear, and specialist design services.
Provide technical and commercial reviews of tender returns, ensuring alignment to standards and value for money.
Assist in tender preparation and pricing of electrical works.
Advocate key themes such as off‑site manufacturing, digitalised ways of working, and sustainability within the team.
Promote innovative technology and manage risk through design and lifecycle management.
Stay current with local asset and electrical standards, embeds requirements into designs.
When onsite during installation, ensure HSE standards, supervise delivery of electrical scope, manage site personnel and subcontractors, and ensure compliance with design and contractual programmes.
Coordinate factory and site acceptance testing, commission works, and completion quality checks.
Assist in project close‑out: handover to end user, prepare handover files, as‑built drawings and control panel schematics.
Work as part of a “one team” culture across multiple projects, as required.
Qualifications
Level 7/8 Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in Water & Wastewater sector.
Strong interpersonal, communication, planning, organisational, training, teamwork, problem‑resolution and presentation skills.
High literacy, numeric and IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Autodesk packages.
Working knowledge of PLCs, Variable Speed Drives, motor starters, valve actuators and general instrumentation.
Knowledge of Trimble ProDesign (Amtech) or ETAP calculation software is advantageous.
Experience in pharmaceutical or food‑grade manufacturing environments is an advantage.
Full clean driving licence.
