Position Overview:
As a Field Engineer for Diperk, you will respond to customer needs for diagnosis, services, and repairs on Perkins engines and generators in the field. You will report back to both the customer and the Diperk team on the work completed, and if further recommendations are required, in a timely manner to facilitate comprehensive quoting. The Perkins engine range covers many sectors, offering opportunities to develop skills across Electrical Power Generation, Construction, Agriculture, Rail, Marine, and more.
Job Description:
DiPerk Power Solutions is the sole authorized OEM distributor for Perkins in the UK and Ireland, supporting complex and minor repairs, as well as regular servicing for plant, electric power, agricultural, or marine equipment.
Major Job Functions:
1. Customer Communication: Ensure understanding of customer procedures, adhere to site requirements, and provide estimated arrival times. (10%)
2. Pre-task Assessments: Conduct safety assessments to ensure site safety and compliance with safety standards. (20%)
3. Diagnosis: Perform complex diagnosis of mechanical and electrical engine problems, including aftertreatment systems, using Perkins EST and diagnostic equipment. Update customers and prepare detailed reports for quoting. (25%)
4. Parts Identification: Identify required parts, requisition them, and coordinate delivery and service scheduling with customers. (10%)
5. Engine Overhaul & Repairs: Carry out overhauls, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Perkins engines, including component removal, dispatch, reinstallation, and quality checks. (25%)
6. Call-Out Support: Support out-of-hours breakdowns, overtime, and travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays. (10%)

* Conduct site risk assessments and prepare method statements
* Inspect and test completed machines, report defects
* Complete service reports and warranty documentation
* Ensure compliance with health and safety policies
Education & Experience:
* Engineering qualification in relevant fields (engines/generators)
* Marine Engineering, Heavy Earth Moving, Construction, Power Generation experience
* Minimum 5 years’ field service experience
* Customer interaction experience
* Full driving license
Candidate will be provided with a service van, laptop, and mobile phone, along with distributor training using the latest diagnostic equipment.
