Job Description
The Field Service Engineer will be a key part of the Aftermarket Platform Centre of Excellence, working with the Global Leaders Sievers Analytical Instruments field service team. The role primarily involves preventative maintenance, testing and calibrating Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysers, reactive repair work, and validating new start‑ups and installations.
Essential Responsibilities
Installs and services Sievers Branded Analytical equipment
Schedules and plans own workload, maintaining a customer‑focused approach to achieve business priorities while working safely, compliantly and efficiently
Keeps up to date with all Factory / Field Service Repair Quality Operating Instructions (QOIs) and performs associated test and calibration routines
Acts as the local technical consultant and liaison with customer management and representatives at site
Supports all Sievers instrument‑related technical service activities, including parts refurbishment, instrument validation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair and performance testing
Coordinates functions with Management/Senior FSRs
Completes and distributes onsite Service reports based on work carried out at site
Handles logistical and administrative duties such as maintaining inventory of spare parts stock, ordering materials, preparing job status and technical reports, generating customer deliverables (repair letters, calibration certificates, etc.)
Relays customer feedback to Manager and/or Technical Department
Recommends appropriate site procedural and/or policy changes that improve overall effectiveness
Is flexible in role and can support other sites at distributed geographic locations within region
Conducts training of company trainees in the various site technical functions encompassed by the position of Field Service Representative
Qualifications
What will the Field Service applicant need?
With a technical background and commitment to working in a field‑based role, the candidate will be based from home 20% of the time and on the road up to 80% of the time, including occasional overnight stays. High organisation skills are required to plan a diary and prioritise varied workload. Full autonomy and responsibility for a customer base means the candidate must understand individual needs, ensure accuracy of service and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Technical qualification, ideally to degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical / Electronic, Chemical or Instrumentation Engineering, or laboratory experience with TOC Analysers
A Level or equivalent Chemistry desirable or equivalent knowledge and experience
Applied experience and knowledge of relevant analytical instrument systems, ideally in the pharmaceutical, water treatment or similar process industry
Field experience in a technical environment where troubleshooting and customer relationships are top priorities
Strong computer skills with MS Office and ability to learn other software applications such as Salesforce and Sievers Emulators
Fluency in written and spoken English; additional language skills are beneficial
Full Irish Driving licence and the ability to travel 80% of the time
