The Role:
The Facilities sub-area in Business Services is responsible for obtaining and maintaining Uisce Éireann's Head Quarters and Regional offices, including activities such as: security, property management, capital projects, building management and fleet management. Facilities will provide these services across Uisce Éireann and the Local Authorities, ensuring a consistent and effective facilities service is provided.
Reporting to the Regional Facilities Technical Lead, the Facilities Engineer will provide a range of key technical and support services to the Facilities Team including sustainability, health and safety, technologies, and development of asset management / maintenance programmes. The role will work closely with other teams within Facilities as well as other functions within Uisce Éireann such as the Scientific Services Team, Sustainability, HSQE and IT.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support the provision of Facilities Management (FM) services for the National Laboratory, Regional Commercial Buildings and Operational sites.
* Support the Facilities Team on strategically important projects as part of UET (Uisce Éireann Transformation project) such as Offices, National Stores and Depots, Laboratories etc. as part of the transformation of the water services industry in Ireland over the coming years.
* Assist with the planning and delivery of minor capital works, refurbishments, and technical projects within the facilities.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in energy efficiency, asset reliability, and safety management.
* Support statutory inspections, audits, and testing programs for all technical facilities systems.
* Ensure service levels support both laboratory and administrative environments, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and user experience.
* Oversee delivery of soft services (cleaning, catering, waste management, landscaping) as provided through the FM provider.
* Work closely with the IMS (Integrated Management Systems) team to ensure Facilities use the Uisce Éireann Document control process.
* Support the various programmes of ISO / Management System audits as required.
* Participate in business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency planning activities for Facilities as required for the business.
* Support the roll out of energy reduction and sustainability programmes and climate action plans for Facilities. Co-ordinate, analyse and trend key Sustainability performance reports for Facilities.
* Act as the daily point of contact for the FM team, coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities.
* Engage with, laboratory staff, office staff, and stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate maintenance or project impacts.
* Manage FM in line with Uisce Éireann (HSQE) Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
* The role requires flexibility to extend working hours and may require being a member of the on-call rota
* Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
* Other activities as may be assigned from time to time.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
* Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
* Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
* Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
* Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical building systems; BMS experience desirable.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in Facilities Management is desirable and or relevant experience.
* Working knowledge of ISO systems is seen as advantageous.
* Knowledge of areas such as Sustainability and Health and Safety desirable.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
* Experience with identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas and implementing solutions.
* Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others
* Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results within a team.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
