Our IT operating model combines trusted outsourced IT partners with a strong internal focus on cloud security, governance, and continuous improvement.We are seeking aSenior IT Engineer (Cloud, Security & Governance)to play a key role in delivering internal IT projects, strengthening cloud security and governance, and supporting compliance initiatives such asISO 27001andNIS2.This role is suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on delivery, takes ownership of initiatives, and is motivated to grow into broader governance and oversight responsibilities over time. This isnot a helpdesk-only role; while operational support exists, the primary focus is on project delivery, cloud improvement, and structured governance implementation.Role PurposeThe Senior IT Engineer will work closely with theVP of Information Systemsand third-party providers to deliver internal IT and cloud initiatives, address security and governance gaps, and help mature Zinkworks' IT and compliance posture.The role combines hands-on technical execution, project ownership, and practical governance implementation. It requires a self-motivated engineer who can identify work proactively, progress tasks independently, and drive initiatives through to completion.Key ResponsibilitiesIT Projects & Internal DeliveryTake ownership of internal IT and cloud projects from definition through to implementation.Identify gaps in cloud security, access management, and configuration, and deliver targeted improvements.Oversee and support user onboarding/offboarding, access provisioning, and device lifecycle processes in line with defined standards.Work with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.Coordinate project delivery with third-party IT providers where required.Cloud Systems Governance & DocumentationMaintain a comprehensive and accurate view of cloud platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, Google Workspace, and other SaaS applications.Map accounts, permissions, and configurations, identifying security and compliance gaps.Create and maintain cloud governance documentation, including:System ownership and responsibilitiesAccess control policies and proceduresConfiguration and change management standardsData retention, backup, and recovery proceduresEstablish procedures for ongoing governance, monitoring, and reporting.Implement and evolve the Cloud Governance Framework in line with agreed standards and organisational direction.IT Operations & Vendor CoordinationAct as a senior internal point of contact for IT-related matters.Liaise with and manage third-party IT providers, ensuring work is delivered to agreed standards.Actively prompt, follow up, and validate vendor work rather than simply forwarding requests.Maintain IT asset registers and software licensing records.Security, ISO 27001 & Compliance SupportContribute to the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the ISMS aligned with ISO 27001.Support risk assessments, access reviews, control implementation, and evidence gathering.Help define and document security controls covering authentication, MFA, encryption, and data protection across cloud systems.Support internal and external audits and track remediation actions through to closure.Continuous Improvement & CollaborationProactively identify opportunities to improve IT, cloud, and security processes.Introduce structure and repeatability into IT operations and project delivery.Work closely with the VP of Information Systems on priorities, projects, and roadmap delivery.Provide clear and regular updates on progress, risks, and issues.EssentialExperience & Qualifications5+ years' experience (typically 6–8 years) in IT engineering, cloud administration, or security-focused IT roles.Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and Google Workspace.Proven experience delivering internal IT or cloud projects end to end.Solid understanding of security controls, identity and access management, and endpoint security.Exposure to ISO 27001, NIS2, or similar regulatory and compliance frameworks.Experience working with and coordinating outsourced IT providers.Strong organisational, documentation, and communication skills.DesirableDegree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.Relevant certifications, such as:ITIL Foundation (v4)CompTIA Security+ or (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)Microsoft SC-900 or Microsoft 365 / Azure certificationsCIPP/E, CGRC, CRISC, or similar governance or risk certificationsISO/IEC 27001 Implementer or risk-focused trainingDiversity, Inclusion & BelongingAt Zinkworks, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
