Psychotherapists Required for Locum Positions
About the Role
This is a pilot project, where locum psychotherapists will be assigned on a full-time basis for an initial 12 months.
Location and Setting
The assignment will be based at Wheatfield prison, Dublin. The prison is a closed, medium-security facility for adult males receiving prisoners from surrounding counties.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a locum psychotherapist, you will support the psychology service and the multidisciplinary team in addressing mental health and offence-specific needs of individuals referred to the psychology service.
You will assist in delivering psychological treatments, including offence-related and mental health interventions, as part of supporting inmates in their rehabilitation.
You will manage a caseload which may include co-facilitating an offence-related group with a psychologist and/or individual work.
Essential Qualifications and Competencies
* A recognised Level 7 qualification (QQI) preferably in a relevant human science discipline or equivalent in a health and social care profession or health-related profession.
* Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in counselling or psychotherapy recognised by one of the following: Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), a relevant body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (IABCP).
* Have full accredited membership with one of the following: IACP, IABCP or a relevant body within ICP.
Desirable but Not Essential Requirements
* Experience in addressing emotional, mental health, and/or offence-related difficulties with a forensic or inpatient population.
* Experience of providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Further therapeutic or research qualifications.
