The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (the Board) invites applications for the position
of Superintendent of Education. The successful applicant will have demonstrated highly
effective leadership in the areas of student achievement (particularly in mathematics and
literacy), school operations, and faith formation.
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Superintendent of Education will be responsible for a
wide array of program portfolios and initiatives as well as providing leadership and supervision
for day to day operations of assigned elementary and secondary schools.
In keeping with the Board’s 2024-2027 strategic plan and vision; the Superintendent of
Education will be responsible for leading system priorities including:
● Catholic Faith Formation, Religion and Family Life
● Student Success, STEM and Pathways
The Superintendent of Education will provide school and system-level leadership reflective of
the Ontario Catholic Leadership Framework. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong
commitment to Gospel values and the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church. This person
has a demonstrated record of commitment to their personal journey of Catholic faith and
animates joy, hope and love in their actions and words.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Exemplify Catholic servant leadership in all aspects.
● Foster and promote the growth of strong Catholic education and values throughout the
system.
● Inspire and motivate staff to effectively nurture and improve student achievement.
● Model and guide continuous improvement in learning and instruction, fostering
relationships with all stakeholders.
● Provide leadership and direction to the operations of assigned elementary and
secondary schools, system portfolios, and assigned programs/initiatives.
● Lead the organization to serve the social, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all
our students without discrimination.
● Provide leadership for the implementation of the Board's Equity and Inclusive Education
Plan to continue to enhance diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives.
● Collaborate with the Director of Education and Senior Team members to implement the
Board's Multi-Year Strategic Plan, monitoring and facilitating the achievement of targets
and key performance indicators.
● Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including staff, students,
parents, parishes, and the broader community.
● Ensure the business and operational functions of the Board are conducted in a prudent,
transparent, and publicly accountable manner.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
● A Supervisory Officer Certificate, as specified by the Ministry of Education, or ability to
complete qualifications within one (1) year of application;
● Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;
● A minimum of five (5) years Principal and/or Vice Principal experience OR experience as
a Supervisory Officer;
● Relevant administrator and/or leadership experience within a school environment
● Religious Education Additional Qualifications and/or post-secondary studies in Catholic
Religious Studies; Evidence of a commitment to ongoing faith formation;
● Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and personal development;
● Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with Principals/Vice Principals, system
leaders, parishes, Ministry of Education, community partners and other education
partners;
● Proven track record of success in education, including teaching and/or administration
experience;
● Exceptional communication skills orally and in writing;
● Exceptional understanding of both elementary and secondary curriculum and programs;
● Experience successfully implementing change and creating organizational direction;
● Business and financial acumen;
● Strength in critical thinking, problem solving and decision making; political acuity;
● Experience nurturing positive relationships while dealing with highly complex and
sensitive matters;
● Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities and deadlines with excellent time
management and organizational skills;
● Ability to maintain tact, discretion and strict confidentiality;
● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through continuous
development, modeling inclusive behaviours and proactively managing bias;
● Demonstrated strength leading special education and ensuring the diverse needs of all
learners are met;
● Demonstrated strength ensuring mental health and wellbeing are prioritized and woven
into all aspects of teaching and learning;
● Proficient computer skills including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office;
● A valid class G (or higher) Ontario driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, this position
requires use of own vehicle.
