Overview
Cloud Platform Engineer at SMBC Group. The Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for the support of complex Cloud solutions across Azure/AWS/GCP. The role focuses on the development and creation of automations to support the delivery of Cloud resources, management, and consumption in an enterprise environment. This role requires background in Cloud engineering or Cloud development with experience in automated solutions against Azure Cloud.
Responsibilities
* Finding and improving operational efficiencies to best suit Cloud resource delivery, access management and security implementations.
* Support of production workloads within a multi-Cloud environment, including monitoring, patching, backup and restoration of Cloud resources.
* Delivery of Cloud infrastructure for partner solutions.
* Creation and support of automation and infrastructure as code solutions for resource creation and policy, leveraging PowerShell/Azure DevOps, Ansible and other approved platforms.
* Design scalable automation/orchestration solutions for other teams to consume.
* Version control and SDLC workflows using Github or Azure DevOps.
* Basic understanding/debugging of application infrastructure, databases, networking, and DNS.
* Design, creation and maintenance of complex Infrastructure as Code and Pipelines as Code solutions.
* Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to integrate systems into ServiceNow ITSM/ITOM.
* Participate in automated monitoring, event monitoring, alerting and metrics.
* Identify opportunities to evolve and simplify infrastructure and processes.
* Coordinate with support teams across disciplines to enable collaborative implementations and knowledge sharing.
* Ensure handover of new/updated systems and documentation to 24x7x365 support.
Qualifications And Skills
* Proficiency in Cloud services related to one or more providers (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
* Strong automation skillset to identify and create workflows.
* PowerShell or scripting experience for automation.
* Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation).
* Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS.
* Experience with monitoring and log aggregation tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Splunk, ELK).
* Foundational IT tooling knowledge across domains to support automation.
* Understanding of public vs private networking in the Cloud.
* Knowledge of Git merging and branching strategies.
* Ability to execute proofs of concept and deploy complex solutions.
* Understanding of SDLC processes for infrastructure.
* Familiarity with Atlassian Suite (Jira/Confluence) is a plus.
* Experience with orchestration tools (Rundeck, Cutover) and IaC tools (HashiCorp Terraform).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate requirements to business and technology partners.
* Strong diagnostic, triage, troubleshooting and problem analysis abilities; ability to communicate results to stakeholders.
* Ability to influence others, negotiate, and work with business users, IT partners and vendors.
* Customer-service mindset and commitment to quality results in a demanding environment.
* Strong time management and a sense of urgency and accountability.
* Comfort with fast-paced environments and changing priorities.
Additional Requirements
