This international engineering contractor delivers complex electrical, mechanical, data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, and power infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.
With a substantial pipeline of secured projects and continued growth across multiple sectors, the company is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join its Limerick team and play a key role in securing and delivering major construction projects.
The Role: Senior Electrical Estimator
As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating process for large‑scale electrical projects across the data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, commercial, and power sectors.
Working closely with engineering, commercial, procurement, and project delivery teams, you will prepare detailed cost estimates, manage tender submissions, evaluate risks, and contribute to the successful conversion of opportunities into live projects.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Electrical Estimator looking to progress within a leading engineering contractor delivering some of Europe's most technically demanding projects.
Must Have Requirements
Must have a third‑level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
Must have 5+ years’ experience within the construction industry.
Proven experience in a Senior Electrical Estimator or Electrical Estimator role is required.
Experience working on electrical tenders exceeding €10 million within the pharmaceutical, industrial, data centre, or commercial sectors is required.
Strong technical understanding of electrical systems and construction methodologies is essential.
Preferred Experience
Experience reviewing Design & Build electrical projects preferred.
Experience pricing HV infrastructure, substations, renewable energy, or critical power systems beneficial.
Strong commercial awareness and risk assessment capability advantageous.
Experience mentoring junior estimators or supporting bid teams preferred.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of BIM, digital take‑off tools, and estimating software.
Experience working on international projects.
Understanding of power transmission and distribution projects.
Strong presentation and client‑facing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed electrical estimates and cost plans based on project specifications, drawings, and tender documentation.
Review electrical technical specifications and employer requirements for major projects.
Manage and coordinate the tender process with engineering, procurement, commercial, and project delivery teams.
Prepare technical submissions including inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, assumptions, and programme information.
Manage supplier and subcontractor enquiries and evaluate quotations for technical and commercial compliance.
Identify project risks, opportunities, and value‑engineering solutions.
Develop accurate pricing strategies for competitive tender submissions.
Manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
Attend tender review meetings and post‑tender negotiations.
Track tender outcomes and gather feedback to improve future submissions.
Support project handovers by providing detailed commercial and technical information to construction teams.
Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating and pre‑construction functions.
About You
You are an experienced Electrical Estimator with strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to price complex electrical projects.
You have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tenders while maintaining accuracy and competitiveness.
You are comfortable working closely with clients, suppliers, project teams, and senior management and enjoy being involved in major project opportunities from inception through to award.
