You will grow your own skills while improving the services we offer and will work with the team to share ideas and knowledge across desktop and hardware support, security, Linux and Windows, networking and infrastructure. The role offers both freedom and responsibility with mentoring from senior staff as you develop.Job ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibility within a Service Desk support team with systems administration tasks, growing with experience.Dealing with learner queries related to systems access and support.Responding to service requests through the Service Desk system.Providing city centre campus support with occasional travel to Wolfe Tone Street.Maintenance of classroom A/V equipment (PCs, projectors, control systems).Resolving operational problems relating to PCs, printers, data communications, and application software.Configuration and deployment of desktops and laptops.Event support for internal and external clients (Graduation, Induction, Open Days, etc.).Administration of Active Directory, Group Policies, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, MS DHCP & DNS, and terminal services.Installing and configuring software, hardware and networks.Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.Applying security updates and performing daily security checks.Working EnvironmentStaff network of 150+ Windows 11 PCs.Student network of 250+ Windows 11 PCs and 50+ Macs.Classroom A/V equipment including Panasonic & Hitachi projectors, Extron and Crestron control equipment.Windows and Linux servers; Hyper-V cluster and Dell SAN.Cisco network infrastructure and Fortigate network security appliances.Skills/Qualifications1–2 years' experience as a Helpdesk/Service Desk Administrator or similar role.Apprenticeship/BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant industry experience strongly preferred but not essential.Familiarity with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Active Directory.Experience with networks.Knowledge of system security and patch management.Self-motivated and quick to learn.Attention to detail.Excellent customer service and communication skills.Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.Flexible team player able to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.Excellent written and verbal English-language communications.About Griffith CollegeGriffith College is Ireland’s largest independent third-level institution with locations in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
