Oncology Operations Manager - Limerick Cancer CentreLocation: Limerick Cancer CentreJob type: PermanentOverview of role:The Oncology Operations Manager will be responsible for the leadership and management of the cancer centre located in Moyross, Co. Limerick. Responsibilities include the management of clinical operations, quality management, regulatory affairs, continuing education, and financial responsibilities. The successful candidate will manage opportunities to improve patient safety and will participate in projects and programs designed to reduce errors, improve processes, and to create a culture of continuous quality improvement resulting in exceptional patient experience. The oncology operations manager will work within the network of cancer centres and liaise closely with colleagues in these centres.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Standard ResponsibilitiesClinical Operations ManagementCoordinates the operations of the Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology Department.Through positive leadership techniques influences and oversees all staff both clinical and non-clinicalEnsures adequate personnel coverage to meet volume demands and adjust schedules as necessary in order to ensurepatient safety standards.Develops/Implements/Administers network policies and procedures to standardise quality patient careProduces high quality work in a timely fashion to meet established deadlines. Work is accurate and substantiated byfact.Provide effective financial oversight by balancing expenses against budget.Utilising a shared governance approach and will work with the General Manager of Oncology Services and UPMC CancerCentres Leadership staff, other site managers, HR Leadership and all other staff in the operations of the cancer centre.Will demonstrate effective communication techniques with patients, staff, management and senior leadership in dailyoperations.Works collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders to develop and improve the service offering as well aspromotion and advocacy of positive patient experience.Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing clinical environments.Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviours.Other Ad-Hoc duties as assigned.Quality Assurance/Continuous Quality Improvement Program ManagementPrioritise patient safety at all times.Oversee the centres QA program and establish meaningful, measurable QA programs to meet regulatory demands.Oversee the centres CQI Activities. Conducts CQI meetings, sets goals and objectives for improvement, and measures results. Results are documented using cancer centre standards.Works in conjunction with the on-site Clinical Director, other Radiation Oncologists and Medical Oncologists and all staff to maintain high standards for quality service.Ensures quality standards are met and leads the department through accreditations and regulatory inspections.Regulatory Affairs ManagementCoordinates the regulatory compliance activities and maintains continuous departmental readiness for inspections and surveys.Acts as a liaison to Radiation Protection Officer, medical physicists, clinical director, pharmacists and coordinates safety compliance program.Continuing Professional Development ManagementAssesses learning needs of staff utilising surveys, QA Program Results, advice from Radiation and Medical Oncologists, and new processes and procedures.Implements or coordinates training programs to meet the needs of the staff.Facilitates staff CPD provided the application is within the scope of the service and budget provisionPerforms staff reviews and address performance/ competencies in accordance with UPMC policyBusiness ResponsibilitiesSupervises and oversees site budget, including operational and capital budgets in collaboration with the General Manager, Oncology servicesMonitors and analysis of financial performance, including profitability and volume metrics. Implements appropriate changes to increase efficiencies, enhance revenue, and control expenses.Maintains FTE's at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes.Maintains supply and total expenses at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes.Oversee billing and revenue capture initiatives working in collaboration with the site's Clinical Director.Working in collaboration with the appropriate personnel including the UPMC Cancer Centers leadership team, oversee new construction, renovation projects, and business utilisation.
