Engineering Stores Operative (Stock Controller) - Temporary Role

Location: Co. Cavan
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Assignment (3–6 months initially)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – flexible start/finish times (core hours 10:00–16:30)
Annual Leave: 23 days annual leave
When: Immediate Start

About the Role

We're recruiting a Temporary Engineering Stores Operative (Stock Controller) to support the Supply Chain team at a leading building materials manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a world-class organisation known for innovation, quality, and a strong focus on safety and sustainability.

The role is primarily office-based but involves regular movement between the stores and production areas to check and maintain stock. You'll play a key part in ensuring that engineering parts, PPE, and maintenance materials are available when needed — helping to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
8. Manage engineering stores stock levels and perform regular stock counts.
9. Order engineering components, consumables, and PPE as required.
10. Expedite deliveries and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of goods.
11. Book in deliveries, receipt materials in SAP, and maintain accurate stock records.
12. Create and update stock codes and maintain data integrity within the system.
13. Work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to understand requirements.
14. Uphold 5S standards within the stores area.
15. Support continuous improvement and lean initiatives across the site.
About You

We're looking for someone who is methodical, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment. You'll be confident using digital tools and ERP systems, and you'll take pride in keeping processes organised and efficient.

Essential Skills & Experience:
16. Previous experience in stock control, stores, or supply chain administration.
17. Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
18. Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system is highly desirable.
19. Good communication and interpersonal skills – able to work with internal teams and external suppliers.
20. A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
