NoOffer DescriptionA vacancy exists for an experienced Research Assistant to work on veterinary vaccine immunology, based in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, UCC. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated experienced research assistant to work in our vaccine research team. The research builds on our significant expertise in developing and commercialising novel vaccines and delivery platforms. The scientist will have at least 4 years of expertise in assessing immune responses in vaccinated pigs. The scientist must have strong experience in producing vaccine-loaded dissolvable microneedle patches and assessing humoral immunity that is induced by this vaccine technology. The candidate must also possess excellent communication, planning, organising, team working, practical, problem solving, and record-keeping skills. The scientist must have a proven track record in supporting a vaccine development team focused on vaccine-induced immunity in human and/or large animal pre-clinical models. The salary will be commensurate with experience.Please note that Garda vetting and/or an international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.Project Title Induction of Broad Immune Responses by Non-injected Stable VaccinesTo work under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Project Leader.To provide assistance in conducting research activities, including planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies within the overall scope of a research project.To coordinate and perform a variety of independent and team activities involved in the collection, analysis, documentation and some interpretation of information/results.To undertake tasks which may include recording results and preparing technical reports including conclusions and recommendations. To coordinate the development of forms, questionnaires and the application of qualitative and quantitative research techniques; write procedures manuals for data collection and coding.To present information on research progress and outcomes to others responsible for the research project.To provide guidance as required to any support staff and/or research students assisting with the research project, as agreed with the Principal Investigator/Grant holder.Ideally to contribute to the publication of findings.To confer with the Principal Investigator in developing plans for research projects and to discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.To perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.Specific RequirementsA graduate qualification in pharmacy or related pharmaceutical, life science field, medicine or discipline relevant to the area of investigation i.e., B.Sc., MSc, MPharm or PhD.Some research experience is desirable.Good analytical skills and computer skills.Proven experience of carrying out research in the relevant research speciality in a commercial environment.Demonstrable achievements in delivering results in a commercial environment.Ability to interact with stakeholders from a range of disciplinesAn ability to work independently to a tight scheduleExcellent attention to detail.Excellent report writing and presentation skills.Capability of working effectively within a team to achieve results.Excellent organisational and communication skills.
