We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Mechanical Engineering Team Lead (Installation) to oversee and guide a team of technicians in the assembly of high-speed automation lines. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of mechanical systems, exceptional problem-solving capabilities, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in both team performance and technical delivery. The successful candidate will foster a collaborative and driven environment while ensuring top-quality work and efficiency in all project executions.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Coordination

* Direct, mentor, and inspire a team of mechanical technicians, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
* Promote an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing team culture.
* Monitor performance and provide coaching to support growth and accountability.

Mechanical System Installation & Assembly

* Lead the hands-on assembly and installation of high-speed automation equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
* Supervise complex mechanical assembly tasks, guiding team members and resolving challenges effectively.
* Possess strong knowledge of M&E systems and facilitate the integration of these services with plant equipment.

Design Review & Optimisation

* Collaborate with engineering teams to review 3D designs (SolidWorks or equivalent) and identify potential improvements.
* Propose design modifications to enhance manufacturability, efficiency, and maintainability.
* Develop detailed installation plans based on design requirements and assembly best practices.
* M&E design knowledge is a distinct advantage, enabling effective integration of mechanical and electrical systems.

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

* Create, refine, and implement assembly processes to drive consistency, safety, and efficiency.
* Identify areas for innovation or process enhancement and lead initiatives to implement them.

Quality Assurance & Reporting

* Ensure all assembled components meet the required standards through rigorous quality checks.
* Maintain clear documentation of installation processes, design revisions, and project progress.
* Report to senior management on team achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Technical Expertise:

* Proficiency with 3D solid-modelling software, particularly SolidWorks.
* Strong background in mechanical assembly, particularly in high-speed automation systems.
* Experience in reviewing designs, proposing updates, and developing installation strategies.

Leadership Skills:

* Proven ability to lead teams in a technical, fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to promote team cohesion and drive results.
* Strong organisational skills, with experience in project planning, resource management, and task prioritisation.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

* Strong analytical skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
* A resourceful approach to overcoming challenges in mechanical installation.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience in a similar role within automation or a related industry.
* Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly safety standards and practices.
