On behalf of a Connacht Region University Hospital in Ireland, Head Medical are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Gastroenterology & General Medicine to join their dynamic and growing medical team. The role includes delivery of outpatient, inpatient, endoscopic, and acute care services, with cross-cover as part of the Group's regional gastroenterology network
This role is not a substantive post but will be a relatively long contract of 12 months with a view of going permanent.

1. Basic Salary scale between €233,215- €280,531 in accordance with the HSE 2023 Consultant contract
2. Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to €19,000)

8. Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements
Key Responsibilities
9. Provide specialist diagnosis, management, and treatment of gastroenterological conditions, including:
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Hepatology (including chronic liver disease)
Functional GI disorders
Upper & lower GI cancer pathways
Nutrition and PEG services
10. Deliver endoscopic services:
Diagnostic and therapeutic OGD, colonoscopy, polypectomy
Participation in the BowelScreen Programme (if accredited)
Participate in the General Medical on-call rota (shared with colleagues)
Provide acute medical assessment and inpatient care
Support the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) and Emergency Department interface
Admit, assess, and manage patients as part of the general medical take
Run specialist outpatient clinics, including IBD and hepatology clinics
Supervise day-case and inpatient gastroenterology care
Requirements to Apply
11. Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division in General Internal Medicine & Gastroenterology must be active and in place to secure an interview
12. Extensive post-graduate Consultant experience in Gastroenterology
13. Completion of EU or UK specialist training (CCST or equivalent).
