The role
Job Description
We are hiring for a permanent contract Retinal Technician position in Athlone, Co. Westmeath and surrounding areas. The role involves eye photography to identify retinal damage caused by diabetes complications. Experience is not essential, making this an opportunity for those new to healthcare or existing healthcare professionals looking to develop skillset.
Team
You will be part of the national programme, working alongside Senior Diabetic Retinal Technicians and Team Leader, supported by the administration team, programme manager and clinical lead.
Qualifications
Experience is not required
A full clean Irish driver’s licence and safe place to store company vehicle
Passion for customer care and positive patient outcomes
IT literacy – word processing, spreadsheets and regular use of Microsoft Office
Initiative and ability to prioritise tasks, and problem‑solving skills
Great work ethic and proactive approach; largely unsupervised after training period
Excellent communication skills at all levels

Candidates must demonstrate a pre‑existing right to work and travel within the EU. Documentary evidence required.
