Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated ESL teacher to deliver Cambridge English examination preparation courses at our Athlone location. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified educator to work with motivated students preparing for internationally recognised English language qualifications.
Schedule & Commitment
* Hours: Classes run for 1hr 30 mins between 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM (Depending on class level taken)
* Days: 2 days a week, between Monday to Friday (specific days to be confirmed)
* Additional Requirement: One Saturday per month for mock testing sessions 9am-1pm
* Contract Duration: September May 2026
* Contract Type: Part-time, fixed-term academic year position
*Should a teacher miss a class, they will have to make up that class on a different day*
Key Responsibilities;
Teaching Duties
* Deliver engaging and effective Cambridge exam preparation lessons
* Take accurate attendance records for all classes
* Assign + Correct homework assignments
* Prepare and print teaching materials using on-site facilities
* Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and proficiency levels
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
* Conduct regular mock examinations to assess student progress on one Saturday of the month
* Provide constructive feedback and guidance on exam techniques
* Track student performance and communicate progress as needed
* Support students in developing effective exam strategies
Administrative Tasks
* Maintain organised records of student progress and attendance
* Prepare materials in advance to ensure smooth lesson delivery
* Coordinate with school administration on student needs and progress
* Writing regular student reports
Exam Levels Covered
* PET (Preliminary English Test) - B1 Level
* FCE (First Certificate in English) - B2 Level
* CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) - C1 Level
Essential Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience teaching Cambridge English examinations
* Strong knowledge of Cambridge exam formats, requirements, and assessment criteria
* Relevant teaching qualifications (CELTA, DELTA, TEFL, TESOL or equivalent preferred)
