Cork, Ireland – office-based with regular travel to project sites nationwideRole OverviewThe successful candidate will predominantly be involved in leading and managing technical bids including detailed technical writing. The role includes technical engineering duties, site-based work, client reporting, tender preparation, and commercial estimation for mechanical projects. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience within a small consultancy environment.Key ResponsibilitiesTendering & CommercialLead the preparation of tenders, proposals, and bid submissions including technical writingSupport tender evaluation and tender management activitiesPrepare mechanical project cost estimates, including materials, labour, and subcontractor pricingAssist with value engineering and commercial assessmentsEngineering & TechnicalCarry out mechanical or civil engineering design and analysis appropriate to experience levelAssist with project delivery across all stages, including feasibility, detailed design, and constructionPrepare technical calculations, drawings, and specificationsSupport senior engineers with project coordination and deliveryLiaise with contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and other consultantsReporting & Client CommunicationProduce clear, professional engineering and tender reports for client issuePrepare technical documentation, scopes of work, and project correspondenceCommunicate effectively with clients and project stakeholders, both verbally and in writingSite WorksAttend construction sites to carry out inspections, surveys, asset condition assessments and progress monitoringRecord site observations and prepare site visit, asset condition and compliance reportsAssist with commissioning, inspections, and project handover documentation as requiredEnsure works comply with drawings, specifications, and relevant standardsSkills & ExperienceEssentialHonours degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering, other engineering / construction management degrees may be considered2–5 years' relevant post-graduate experienceExemplary standard of written and spoken EnglishExperience in tender preparation, bid management and commercial estimationDemonstrated experience producing professional reports for client deliveryEngineering or construction experienceStrong organisational and time-management skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering softwareDesirableExperience working with an Engineering Contractor or Engineering ConsultancyFamiliarity with Irish building and H&S regulations and standardsMechanical project estimation or commercial experiencePersonal AttributesProfessional and client-focused approachAbility to work independently and as part of a small teamPractical, motivated, solutions-driven mindsetComfortable working across office and site environmentsWhat We OfferBroad, hands-on role within a small Irish consultancyExposure to a wide range of projects and clientsSupport toward professional developmentCompetitive salary and benefits package, based on experience
