We are currently recruiting for the role of Financial Controller, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, to oversee all finance related systems and operational procedures relating to Irelands largest food chain.
Reporting to the CFO/Managing Director, the Financial Controller is responsible for the day-to-day financial control of the Company and management of the accounts/finance and IT systems relative to this area.
Key duties will include:
Implementing and maintaining systems to support effective financial management including budgetary control.
Analysis of all Business KPI’s being achieved, together with suggestions for improvement on a site by site basis.
Putting in place systems and controls to maximise returns and ensure security of cash/stock and profits.
Managing and developing of key personnel who have potential to further develop and bring new ideas and systems to enhance our existing operations related to finance and accounting and beyond.
Conducting audits at store level to ensure controls and cash handling procedures are in place
Supporting strategic and operational planning, future proofing.
Producing, reviewing and monitoring monthly management accounts, budgets and analysis, and reviewing ways to enhance results further.
Preparing financial reports for the weekly & monthly management meetings
Manage year end and month end processes, put forward learnings from past month/year with a view to stronger results going forward in key areas.
Supervision of invoicing process and other financial areas.
Liaising with banks and external auditors in the best interest of the business.
Monthly Balance Sheet review and reconciliations.
Preparation of annual budgets.
Overseeing the preparation of control accounts for debtors, bank and creditors.
Maintaining an efficient creditors system with responsibility for all payments.
Establishing financial procedures & consistent management reporting
Financial analysis to provide decision-making support for management
Providing relevant & timely financial information to allow strategic and tactical decision-making
Overseeing the submission of monthly, quarterly and annual statutory returns
Contributing to the general management of the company.
Ad hoc duties as required.
Candidates must have at least 5 years’ experience operating in a similar senior position ideally with Retail Industry and should be a qualified Chartered or Certified Accountant.
Candidates should have the following:
A proven track record of success in previous finance related roles within the food industry
Personal pride in what they do, commitment, honesty and integrity.
Strong financial analytical skills
Business acumen with desire and ability to contribute to the overall management team
The ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation; whether a new employee on the stocks team or a senior revenue official, the ability to connect at all levels and engage.

An ability to oversee all aspects of the company’s finance, whilst constantly striving for greater returns yet enabling the team to feel part of the solution and motivating them to want better results for the organization.
Solid Finance Decision Making ability, knowing when to ask for help, confidence to admit to not knowing all the answers, and knowledge to know where to look.
IT/Systems skills – A working knowledge of Accounting Software (Navision) Payroll (Micro Pay), Time & Attendance (Time Point/Maitre D) POS Systems ( Maitre D, CBE) Protean (Maintenance/Service System).
