The QC Analyst is an integral part of our Quality Control team based in Sligo, Ireland.
Position Details
Job Purpose:
This role involves setting up and executing bioassay product testing and supporting validation assays at our Sligo manufacturing site. It requires an individual with practical and academic experience in test method/assay development within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of managing their time, working to deadlines, and producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Qualification of new laboratory equipment.
2. Perform GMP-compliant and timely transfer of analytical methods.
3. Generate documentation such as procedures, work instructions, and protocols.
4. Train other analysts on test methods.
5. Perform sample analysis according to SOPs.
6. Coordinate external test laboratories when needed.
7. Maintain and import laboratory reagents, media, and supplies.
8. Conduct investigations and generate reports for invalid assays, deviations, OOS/OOT results.
9. Initiate and complete CAPAs and Change Controls.
10. Present analytical data and trend reports to management.
11. Provide out-of-hours on-call support for Critical Quality Impact Systems.
12. Perform ad hoc duties as required.
Technical and Professional Competencies:
* Background in Analytical Method Development, Validation, and/or Statistical Quality Control.
* Understanding of GMP, ICH, and regulatory guidance.
* Ability to lead root cause analysis and investigations.
* Problem-solving, risk management, and decision-making skills.
* Experience with aseptic techniques.
* Strong collaboration and communication skills.
* Attention to detail and data review experience.
* Technical writing proficiency.
* Effective time management and multi-tasking.
* Willingness to travel as needed.
Essential Education and Experience:
* At least 3 years' experience in biotech/pharma quality labs or new product/assay development.
* Proficiency in bioassays including qPCR, RT-PCR, and ELISA.
* Experience with immunological assays is a plus.
* Experience with analytical transfer, method development, and validation.
* Ability to author and review validation studies and reports.
* Proficiency in English.
Desirable Education and Experience:
* Honours degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, or related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
