Offer description

We are seeking a proactive and forward-thinking Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer with a strong sustainability focus to join our team. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our EHS and sustainability programmes. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and driving positive cultural change across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental & Sustainability Responsibilities:

* Support the development and implementation of the company's environmental and sustainability strategy.
* Monitor environmental performance, including energy usage, waste management, water consumption, and carbon-reduction initiatives.
* Lead sustainability reporting and contribute to certification or improvement programmes.
* Support cross-functional teams in driving sustainability-focused projects throughout the organisation.
* Experience with Origin Green or similar sustainability programmes is advantageous but not essential.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

* Maintain and continually improve the company's Health & Safety Management System.
* Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with legislation and internal standards.
* Deliver safety training, manual handling, and awareness campaigns.
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* Act as the main point of contact for regulatory bodies and insurance representatives.

Compliance & External Audits:

* Coordinate and support external audits such as SMETA, HSA, and other regulatory or customer audits.
* Liaise with company insurers, ensuring all documentation, incident reports, and risk-management requirements are accurately maintained.
* Ensure full compliance with Irish and EU EHS legislation.

Qualifications & Experience

* Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Sustainability, or a related field.
* Minimum 2–4 years' experience in an EHS role, ideally within manufacturing, food production, or a similar sector.
* Certified trainer in Manual Handling.
* Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and best practice standards.
* Experience participating in or coordinating external audits (e.g., SMETA, HSA) is highly desirable.
* Experience with Origin Green is an advantage but not required.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to drive behavioural change and foster a positive safety and sustainability culture.
