Job Overview
The Medical Scientist in Microbiology is a temporary position that reports to the Chief Medical Scientist or Senior Medical Scientist in charge. The chosen candidate may be required to report on a day-to-day basis to the designated Senior Medical Scientist.
Key Responsibilities
* Observe strict confidentiality when dealing with patient or hospital information
* Perform scientific procedures and associated work to the highest professional standard
* Participate in training and supervision of new and existing staff and students
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge and promote continuing education and research activities
* Co-operate in evaluating equipment, consumables, reagents, and processes
* Ensure compliance with International and National Guidelines and Standards for laboratory services
* Participate in maintaining and developing the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 15189
* Assist in ensuring effective safety procedures are in place
Requirements
* Statutory Registration on the Medical Scientists Register maintained by CORU
* Professional Qualifications and Experience
* A high standard of suitability and professional ability
* Maintenance of annual registration on the Medical Scientists Register
* Confirmation of annual registration with CORU

* Fully competent and capable of undertaking duties
* In a state of health indicating a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service
* Of good character
