Purpose of the function

The Oncology Medical Advisor (MA) at Daiichi Sankyo Ireland (DSIE) is a non-promotional, hybrid role, equally divided between field and head office responsibilities within Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams. The MA translates scientific and clinical data into solutions for patients, healthcare professionals (HCPs), and the company, with a focus on breast and pipeline indications.

In the field, the MA engages with Key External Experts (KEEs) and HCPs to deliver high-quality scientific communication and gather insights on patient and treatment pathways, working closely with cross-functional colleagues to maintain a high standard of scientific knowledge. At the head office, the MA develops and implements the Medical Affairs Plan aligned with company objectives and the needs of HCPs and patients.

The MA reports to the Head of Medical Affairs in Ireland.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Build and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with KEEs across academic, hospital, and scientific settings
* Gather expert insights to inform medical and company strategy
* Develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans in alignment with cross-functional teams
* Maintain a high standard of knowledge on scientific and clinical developments in the assigned therapeutic area(s)
* Identify educational needs for the scientific community through HCP insights
* Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high quality medical education programs
* Conduct the technical review of materials for external use within the relevant system
* Manage assigned medical budget aligned with the Medical Affairs Plan
* Manage local company- and investigator-sponsored trials
* Support patient access to medicines via Health Technology Assessments contributions
* Partner with commercial and marketing colleagues for product launches and lifecycle management, maintaining strategic alignment
* Adhere to all relevant laws, SOPs, and industry codes (Advertising Legislation (S.I. No 541, IPHA Code of Practice)

Education & Experience

* Medical Doctor or PharmacistPhD or similar in life sciences
* Experience in medical affairs or clinical research with strong HCP insight and contribution to brand strategy
* Experience working in oncology field

Skills and additional Requirements

* Quick learner of new therapy areas and environments
* Knowledge of healthcare systems, licencing routes, pharmaceutical industry, and relevant local regulations (IPHA, Advertising Legislation)
* Understanding of clinical trial design, statistical methods, and health economics/HTA basics
* Proven ability to build strong KEE relationships and work effectively in cross-functional teams
* Advanced presentation and Microsoft Office skills
* Ability to travel nationally (50%) and internationally (5-10%)
