This is how you can make a difference at Abbott: As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in PLC communications, vision, and RFID communications.
You will drive activities with suppliers to ensure automation and software support scales to increased volumes within ADC requirements.
You will lead the technical and validation engineering staff and interface with product teams, department managers, designers, equipment manufacturers, R&D, quality, and regulatory personnel.
This role is based at our TPM in Fermoy, Cork, with up to 30% project-related travel.
Responsibilities: Oversee engineering modifications to enhance operational effectiveness.Develop and execute strategies for complex engineering challenges using advanced technical expertise.Design and lead intricate engineering studies and experiments involving multiple variables.Evaluate issues, assess their impacts, and calculate probabilities for informed decision-making.Establish design and process specifications aligned with business goals.Ensure timely and standards-compliant documentation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet company objectives.Adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and policies.Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrate self-drive, adaptability, and willingness to work extended hours to meet deadlines.Practice effective time management and resource planning.Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 6 years of engineering or operational experience.Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Codesys).Knowledge of Cognex vision systems.Familiarity with RFID communication systems.Experience in developing and executing software testing plans.Knowledge of FAT, SAT, commissioning, and validation processes for high-speed automation equipment.What we Offer Attractive compensation including competitive pay and benefits such as:
