Position Summary
The Director for Communications and Marketing in the School of Nursing (SON) is responsible for external communication, marketing, and public image. They develop and manage communication plans, marketing initiatives, public relations, and outreach activities, including managing the SON website and social media accounts. The role involves collaboration with university stakeholders to enhance the school’s visibility and reputation.
* Develop, implement, and assess marketing and communication strategies for various audiences.
* Create digital and print materials including newsletters, alumni publications, and press releases.
* Manage media relations and press releases.
* Coordinate marketing for special events.
* Serve as the primary contact for external media and marketing in cooperation with University Communications.
* Build relationships with nursing organizations and alumni.
* Manage the communication and marketing budget.
* Maintain contact information and track alumni achievements for internal and public purposes.
The Director will also promote the SON Spartan Nurse brand to position the school as a leading place for nursing education and employment.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
* 2-3 years of professional experience in marketing, publicity, and communications.
* Excellent writing and editing skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively and independently with high energy.
* Experience with social media.
* Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Graduate degree in communications, journalism, or marketing.
* 3+ years in a related communications role.
* Proficiency in design and web graphics.
* Experience with website management and analytics.
* Additional professional certifications are a plus.
