An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automation (Control Systems) Engineer to join a high-performing Operational Technology (OT) team within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in Dublin.This role offers the chance to work in a technically advanced facility supporting API manufacturing operations including synthesis, purification and lyophilisation, within a culture that values continuous improvement, innovation and cross-functional collaboration.The OpportunityAs part of the OT / Automation team, you will play a key role in supporting and developing the site’s process automation and control systems, ensuring reliability, compliance and ongoing improvement of production systems.You will work closely with teams across Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Validation and EHS, contributing to both day-to-day operational support and automation project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day technical support for process automation systems including hardware and softwareTroubleshoot and resolve control system issues impacting manufacturing operationsManage and deliver automation upgrades, system improvements and replacement projectsSupport technical investigations, root cause analysis and incident resolutionDevelop and maintain automation documentation, engineering specifications and SOPsSupport change control processes in line with established site proceduresImplement initiatives to improve system reliability, compliance and production efficiencyParticipate in continuous improvement programmes and operational excellence initiativesContribute to maintaining a safe and compliant working environmentSupport out-of-hours OT on-call coverageManage and implement small to medium automation projectsExperience & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Automation & Controls, Electrical Engineering, or related technical disciplineProven experience supporting process automation systems in a regulated manufacturing environmentExperience within Biopharma, API manufacturing or Life Sciences environments is highly desirableStrong hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA and Batch SystemsTechnical SkillsExperience with automation platforms and technologies such as:Siemens and Rockwell PLCsSCADA systems including PCS7, iFix or InTouchSiemens HMIs and Building Management SystemsAutomation tools such as RSLinx, RSNetworx, OctoPlant, ThinManagerNetwork monitoring tools such as PRTGHistorian systems and industrial databasesCompliance & Industry StandardsKnowledge of GAMP software development lifecycleFamiliarity with ANSI/ISA S88 and S95 standardsUnderstanding of GAMP5, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11Experience with change control, validation processes, and CAPA managementAdditional SkillsStrong problem-solving and analytical abilityExcellent technical documentation and communication skillsExperience working with cross-functional stakeholdersProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
