Responsibilities (Text Only)
1. Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
2. Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
3. Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.
4. Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.
5. Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
6. Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.
Qualifications (Text Only)
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
2. Collaborate with partner teams to meet the engineering goals in a unified manner.
3. Proficiency in C# or C/C++, and strong design, implementation, and debugging skills; knowledge of scripting languages a plus.
4. Deep experience with telemetry and observability standards such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Parquet, Loki, or the Microsoft Observability platform.
5. Experience with distributed systems, performance analysis, databases, and/or large-scale data processing.
6. Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
7. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
8. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
9. Preferred Qualifications include knowledge of Azure services and observability systems, experience with data science, analytics, ontology, building cloud-scale infrastructure components, and familiarity with secure software design concepts.
