Associate Director –Risk Advisory Quantitative Valuations
Grant Thornton Ireland is offering an exciting opportunity within our Quantitative Risk team in Risk Advisory, focusing on fair valuations of financial instruments and related quantitative risk work for the European and US banking and asset management sectors.
The successful applicant will assist Directors and Associate Directors to expand our market offering, strengthen client relationships, and deliver a range of engagements in financial services.
Responsibilities
* Lead assignments and engagements with banking and asset management clients in specialist pricing and risk expertise, including independent model validation to maintain a best-in-class offering.
* Implement bespoke quantitative and qualitative frameworks for end-to-end independent model validation.
* Offer expertise while developing an understanding of business strategy, products and markets; ensure continuous professional growth to contribute to high-quality outcomes.
* Contribute to business development with client-facing engagements and proposals that demonstrate market understanding and the Firm’s offering; develop relationships to identify opportunities.
* Communicate work outcomes clearly within internal lines and to external stakeholders.
* Provide ongoing training and onboarding support to the team, plan and allocate work to junior members, and lead assignments and engagements.
Skills And Attributes
* Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a quantitative discipline.
* Professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, ACCA) are advantageous but not required.
* 5–7 years of experience in relevant financial services roles; asset valuation experience is highly relevant, other relevant fields include credit analysis, financial supervision, or financial/economic modelling.
* Extensive understanding and experience with pricing methodologies and quantitative risk management techniques.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, planning and organisational skills.
* Ability to distill large amounts of information and identify root causes of issues.
* Knowledge of pricing and asset management regulatory and legal frameworks is an advantage.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, with ability to relate to senior management, staff and clients.
* Ability to manage and deliver under tight timeframes.
* Proficiency with statistical/coding packages such as SAS, R, Python, VBA, or C++.
* Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
