Bank Lane is a fast-growing cultural venue and late-night space in the heart of Waterford. We host original live acts, club nights, immersive entertainment, and a diverse programme of events year-round. We are now seeking an experienced Bar Manager with a proven background in high-volume venues or nightclubs to join our management team.
About the Role
The Bar Manager will oversee the full bar operation at Bank Lane and our sister bar itty bittys ensuring exceptional service, smooth event execution, and a safe, efficient late-night environment. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic, high-energy venue rather than a standard bar setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage bar staff across all shifts, ensuring high performance and strong team culture
* Oversee stock control, ordering, deliveries, and stock security
* Manage cash handling, till operations, and nightly reconciliation
* Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health & safety, and venue operating procedures
* Work closely with events and operations teams to deliver seamless live events and club nights
* Recruit, train, and mentor bar team members
* Drive service standards, speed of service, and customer satisfaction
* Maintain bar presentation, cleanliness, and equipment upkeep
* Contribute to planning, promotions, and operational improvements
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' bar management experience
* Must have a proven track record in a venue, late-night bar, or nightclub (not standard bar experience)
* Strong leadership and people-management skills
* Experience in high-volume service and fast-paced environments
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to work late nights, weekends, and event-heavy periods
* Fully up to date with licensing regulations and safety standards
* Passion for nightlife, live events, and creating standout customer experiences
