This is a hands-on & technical position with a direct pathway to becoming a Change Leader within the business, meaning further responsibilities & the opportunity for partnership with some of the worlds leading tech companies.Here, the Lead Network Engineer can expect to take ownership of complex, high-performance network systems across both optical and IP environments. You'll be responsible for ensuring network reliability, resolving technical issues, and maintaining the smooth operation of mission-critical infrastructure.Lead Network Engineer ResponsibilitiesNetwork Operations & OptimizationOversee and maintain the performance, reliability, and capacity of both optical and IP network systems.Manage multi-vendor network hardware and software components, ensuring seamless operation and integration.Utilize advanced monitoring platforms to track network health, identify anomalies, and proactively address potential issues.Support team in handling network and traffic peering for any Layer 1 to Layer 3 issuesIncident Response & Problem SolvingDiagnose and resolve complex network incidents, applying innovative and practical solutions to minimize service disruptions.Conduct in-depth root cause analyses for outages or performance degradation and produce detailed documentation and reports.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with global service providers, data center teams, and internal stakeholders to maintain and enhance network stability.Contribute to infrastructure expansion projects and support the implementation of new network solutions.Lead Network Engineer RequirementsA bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience), with 5–8 years in network operations or a related discipline.Ideally 2 years in a lead positionProven expertise in optical networking technologies (DWDM, CWDM) and IP protocols such as IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, BGP, and OSPF.Strong working knowledge of fiber-optic infrastructure, including cable and connector types, optical transport systems, and patch panel configurations.Ability to develop and present root cause analysis reports following network incidents.Excellent judgement and adaptability when choosing methods or tools to resolve network challenges.Effective communication skills, with the confidence to engage service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs across multiple regions.Experience working within multi-vendor network environments.Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, or OCA (or similar).This is a fulltime position, based in Dublin.
