Market Operations Manager

We are currently looking for a Market Operations Manager to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the market participation of the company’s demand response portfolio in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
We are looking for someone with significant experience and a strong understanding of the Irish electricity market, ideally with experience managing capacity contracts including capacity bid preparation. A highly motivated, self-driven, analytical individual who is familiar with the Irish electricity policy & regulatory landscape. Strong communication skills with the ability to analyse complex material and communicate same to management, and the wider business, in a clear and succinct manner.
Experience with grid code compliance testing or dispatch testing would be beneficial.
The day to day role will involve the management of interactions with the electricity market operator, transmission system operator, distribution system operator, and other stakeholders, both internal and external to the company.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintaining an awareness of and working towards pertinent timelines related to the company’s activities in the electricity market.
* Preparation and timely submission of regulatory and market related documentation, applications, auction submissions, and tender responses required to ensure the company’s objectives are met.
* Coordinating with the company’s commercial and field operations teams to ensure clients are engaged, and equipment is installed, commissioned, and tested to meet relevant market timelines and volume commitments.
* Managing the registration of, de-registration of, and modifications to electricity market units as required by the company.
* Preparation and timely submission of pre-testing documentation as required by relevant system/market operators.
* Managing the execution of relevant compliance testing.
* Preparation and timely submission of test reports as required by system/market operators and other relevant stakeholders.
* Managing the market entry of successfully tested clients.
* Liaising with other business units to ensure that the company’s portfolio is managed effectively on an ongoing basis to maintain compliance with electricity market obligations and to maximise the benefits achieved.
* Maintaining good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Effectively handle day‑to‑day queries from regulators and system operators, preparing reports and analyses in responses, including financial insights where required.
* Supporting other business units in the development of their strategies and achievement of day‑to‑day business objectives.
* Representing the business at various forums that pertain to the functions of the team at a domestic and international level.
* Present detailed market insights back to internal stakeholders in a concise and clear manner through a combination of discussions, reports and presentations.
* Other duties as required from time to time which can include monitoring and reporting on licence obligations, drafting and/or signing‑off on related licence obligations.
* Previous relevant experience in the electricity industry.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a pragmatic approach.
* Able to work on own initiative with a high level of personal motivation.
* Strong communication skills, with an ability to summarise and clearly communicate complex material in a succinct manner to senior management and the wider business.
* A good understanding of policy and regulatory matters pertaining to the Irish electricity market.
