Role: We are seeking an experienced and results-focused minded Commercial Manager to join our Projects Team.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, delivery, and compliance, ensuring that every project Watt Footprint delivers is commercially sound, contractually secure, and financially tracked from award to final payment.
Youll oversee the financial performance and contractual compliance of all projects while managing and supporting the Projects Team to deliver consistently against their targets.
This includes aligning project resources, reviewing progress, and maintaining strong communication between the project, technical, and finance functions.
While this role is remote, candidates must be based in Ireland, hold a full drivers licence, and be available for monthly in-person company meetings and training events in Mullingar.
Key Responsibilities Review and manage all project contracts, grant letters, and supplier agreements to ensure commercial and legal compliance.
Maintain and track Project Milestone Values (PMVs), ensuring all milestones are properly documented, invoiced, and paid.
Oversee project financials including cost tracking, profit margins, and budget vs actual performance.
Approve and issue client invoices, subcontractor payments, and variation orders.
Identify and mitigate commercial risks such as scope creep, late payments, or unapproved variations.
Liaise with Finance to maintain accurate cash flow forecasts and invoice schedules.
Provide commercial insight and reporting to the CEO and Head of Operations for forecasting and decision-making.
Support Project Managers and Coordinators in meeting delivery, documentation, and invoicing targets.
Lead weekly project review meetings to monitor progress, risks, and resourcing needs.
Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and inspection-ready for SEAI, Enterprise Ireland, or related funding bodies.
Maintain clean, traceable records for all contracts, invoices, and grant submissions.
Support process improvement and standardisation within the Projects Department to strengthen delivery efficiency and compliance.
Required Skills & Experience 4+ years experience in a commercial or project finance role within energy, construction, or engineering sectors.
Strong understanding of contract management, project financials, and grant-funded frameworks (EXEED, BEC, CEG, etc.).
Proven ability to lead and support teams, allocate resources, and drive accountability.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Advanced Excel and financial reporting capability.
Detail-oriented, structured, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proactive, decisive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment.
