Primary Function / Goals / Objectives
Follow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.
Report any current or potential hazards to your immediate supervisor/dept. manager immediately.
The correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) must be worn at all times. Safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves are appropriate.
He/she is responsible for consulting any SOPs for any job task he/she may carry out and ensuring they are fully understood and adhered to.
An Engineering professional who applies scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete assignments related to maintenance excellence and reliability.
This position is involved in the overall lifecycle of capital assets (designing, delivering, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning) in the most productive and cost-effective manner.
Manage the preventive and predictive maintenance programs, support maintenance line operations, manage/support the department and plant maintenance budgets, coordinate plant shutdown assignments, provide capital project input and support, and oversee the maintenance resources necessary to meet or exceed the production plan while maintaining a zero-incident safety and quality mindset, teamwork attitude, and excellent customer service. The Process Maintenance Manager will oversee all maintenance operations, from routine inspections to emergency repairs, ensuring machinery is in top condition to prevent costly downtime and ensure product quality.
Senior Leaders rely on you to ensure the engineering function runs smoothly, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with quality and safety standards. Effective maintenance requires collaboration across teams and departments. Promote a culture of safety and efficiency within the team. Drive safety, quality, compliance, productivity, and cost improvements that add value to the site.
People management is essential. Lead your team, support company values, empower your people for continuous improvement, and collaborate with other functions to achieve company goals. Maintain proactive communication across all levels.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Hold yourself and others accountable for delivering results on time and right first time.
2. Identify and develop team members for future progression.
3. Drive a culture of compliance with safety and quality regulations.
4. Lead Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Optimization initiatives using lean tools including A3 problem solving.
5. Set and ensure timely completion of engineering schedules.
6. Achieve engineering targets, minimize downtime, and ensure process equipment is fit for purpose.
7. Develop plans for equipment obsolescence and strategic asset changeout.
8. Coordinate with Production to ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance schedules.
9. Ensure spare parts are ordered and available when needed, achieving operational excellence.
10. Ensure timely achievement of cost savings and escalate obstacles accordingly.
11. Provide engineering and technical leadership to manufacturing operations.
12. Gather and analyze maintenance and manufacturing performance data, report findings, and recommend actions to drive cost reduction.
13. Anticipate future directions, benchmark internally and externally, and deploy predictive and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
14. Provide strategic oversight of equipment performance, failure analysis, and changeovers.
15. Identify patterns/trends, analyze problems, and make recommendations from multiple perspectives.
16. Implement process improvements and cost reductions creatively.
17. Build and maintain relationships across levels to develop mutually beneficial outcomes using diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
Additional Responsibilities may include:
* Act as a designee for the Process Engineering Manager.
* Develop procedures and standards.
* Direct efforts of technicians and outside resources.
* Provide training.
* Supervise resources for Preventive/Predictive Maintenance.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
* This role reports to the Process Engineering Manager.
* Maintenance supervisors report to this position with indirect responsibility over maintenance technicians.
Education Required:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline.
Knowledge
* Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Engineering.
* Preference for electrical background with knowledge of industrial systems.
* Knowledge of automated manufacturing and food processing equipment is essential.
* Ability to organize, motivate, and understand people (contractors, suppliers, team members).
* Minimum 3 years managing a team.
* Experience in Dairy/Food Process Engineering or with Evaporators and Spray Dryers is preferred.
* Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment with awareness of production impact.
* Organized, resourceful, with excellent attention to detail.
* Proven problem-solving skills, data collection, and analysis abilities.
