As Ireland’s premier specialist environmental consultancy our team works on a range of large, complex and interesting projects. We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Hydrogeologist to join our esteemed Contaminated Land and Hydrogeology Team, where they will have the opportunity to enhance their career and contribute to the overall success of the company.
Position Overview
AWN is expanding its Environmental Team and is currently seeking an experienced Senior Hydrologist and/or Principal Hydrologist. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team based in Dublin, collaborating on challenging and exciting projects within the private and public sector. The team based in Dublin includes a diverse group of environmental consultants, geologists, hydrogeologists, chemists, acoustic engineers and environmental scientists.
The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to scope and deliver projects in line with client requirements. Candidates should have good people skills, be driven, and also work well in a team environment. A balance of technical, communication/written and field skills is sought to flexibly contribute to a variety of different projects.
For the right candidate we will consider remote workers within the EU but the candidate would be required to travel to Ireland regularly.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Technical report writing
Flood modelling and flood risk assessment
Providing leadership by overseeing, guiding, and managing junior team members and sub‑consultants to meet project requirements effectively.
Communicating with clients, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and sub‑contractors to ensure compliance with all project requirements.
Assisting in project and program management for large and complex projects, including post‑planning approval assistance.
Preparation of and creating proposals to address client needs.
MSc in Environmental Science/Engineering, Hydrology or related disciplines; minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the environmental sector.
Self‑motivated, organised and capable of working on their own initiative.
High attention to detail, excellent report writing, and communication skills.
Ability to problem‑solve and assemble various strands of complex data into clear, concise outputs.
Capacity to respond to tight timelines, reporting needs, and internal reporting structures.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred

5+ Years Experience
Full Clean Driving Licence or working towards one would be beneficial
Membership/Chartership of a recognised Environmental Professional body such as IEMA, IGI, IAH, CIWEM etc.
Preparation of EIA (supporting chapters etc.)
Experience in Contaminated Land Site Assessment, Quantitative Risk Assessment and Remediation of Contaminated Sites
