The Opportunity
This role plays a key part in supporting commercial growth through the ongoing development of customer accounts alongside the pursuit of new business opportunities. The Sales / Key Account Manager will take responsibility for a defined group of customers while actively contributing to expansion across selected market segments.
The position is commercially focused and operational in nature, requiring close day-to-day interaction with internal technical, NPD, quality, finance, production, and purchasing teams. The successful candidate will be accountable for customer engagement, commercial execution, and the successful delivery of ingredient solutions from initial discussion through to implementation.
Responsibility extends across revenue performance, margin management, and the longer-term development of customer relationships.
Responsibilities
Customer & Account Ownership
* Take full ownership of a defined customer portfolio, with clear responsibility for revenue performance, margin delivery, and account development.
* Build effective, long-term working relationships with key customer contacts across commercial, technical, and operational functions.
* Act as the central commercial owner for customer accounts, ensuring requirements, issues, and opportunities are progressed internally and resolved efficiently.
* Maintain accurate visibility of customer activity, opportunities, and commitments through disciplined use of the company's HubSpot CRM system.
Product & Solution Delivery
* Drive customer-specific ingredient and blend projects from initial engagement through to successful commercial implementation.
* Work closely with technical and NPD teams to shape solutions that are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with customer needs.
* Coordinate input across quality, finance, production, and purchasing to ensure solutions are delivered to agreed cost, specification, and timeline.
Sales Performance & Business Growth
* Deliver agreed sales and margin targets across the assigned customer base.
* Identify, qualify, and progress commercial opportunities through the full sales cycle, from early-stage discussions to agreement and onboarding.
* Expand business within existing customer organisations while selectively developing new customer relationships in targeted market areas.
Commercial & Market Execution
* Lead all commercial discussions with customers, including pricing frameworks, commercial terms, and ongoing account negotiations.
* Manage price reviews and adjustments with customers in a clear, structured, and commercially disciplined manner.
* Maintain awareness of market dynamics, customer trends, and competitor activity to inform account strategy and commercial decision-making.
Wider Business Contribution
* Contribute to strategic account planning and supplier collaboration initiatives that support longer-term business growth.
* Support broader market development activity aligned with the company's commercial objectives.
* Communicate clearly and consistently with internal stakeholders, contributing to a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven working culture.
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 5+ years' experience in a customer-facing sales or key account management role within food ingredients, B2B food manufacturing, or a closely related sector.
* Proven ability to grow and retain customer accounts, delivering against revenue and margin objectives.
* Comfortable operating in a technically driven environment, engaging confidently with stakeholders across purchasing, quality, NPD, operations, and senior management.
* Strong commercial capability, with experience managing pricing, margin, and contract terms, including the ability to communicate price adjustments professionally.
* Structured and organised approach, capable of managing multiple customer priorities, projects, and internal workflows simultaneously.
* Hands-on, accountable working style suited to a fast-moving business, with a clear focus on execution and follow-through.
* Experience managing a varied customer mix, balancing shorter-cycle transactions with longer-term strategic account development.
Remuneration
An attractive remuneration package is on offer, comprising a competitive base salary of €75,000 upwards, depending on experience, together with a performance-related bonus and benefits package.
