Established over 70 years ago, my client runs a busy solicitor’s practice based in South Galway and is looking to hire an experienced accounts technician/bookkeeper to join their team. Previous legal practice experience is preferred. This is a hybrid position based in Loughrea, Galway.
Responsibilities:
1. Update and maintain postings for both Client Accounts and Office accounts.
2. Manage Nominal Accounts, Supplier Accounts, and Third-party Accounts.
3. Record receipts, direct lodgements, and payments by cheques, EFT, Land Direct payments, and CRO payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Law Society regulations.
4. Document evidence for receipts and payments.
5. Handle transfers from Clients Account and journal entries for transfers.
6. Manage Clients Authorities related to S. letters, Bills of Costs, and Statements of Account.
7. Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all clients and office accounts.
8. Prepare month-end and year-end reports and balancing statements.
9. Process invoicing, Bills of Costs, and communicate with clients regarding outstanding accounts.
10. Assist fee earners in finalizing Bills of Costs and Statements of Accounts.
11. Process supplier invoices and manage Accounts Payable.
12. Prepare and file VAT returns and handle Thesaurus Payroll System.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Previous legal accounts experience in a legal office or similar environment is advantageous.
2. Experience with solicitor-specific computerised accounts and case management systems.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong numerical skills are essential.
4. Thorough knowledge of Law Society accounts regulations.
5. Excellent communication skills and keen attention to accuracy.
6. Ability to work well in a team and meet deadlines.
