PE Global are currently recruiting for a Welding inspector to join our client, a leading engineering company working with the Pharmaceutical & Bio Pharma Industry.
Job Purpose:
We are currently seeking an experienced Welder Inspector with a strong background in pharmaceutical or cleanroom environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and verifying welding works on high-specification stainless steel and process pipework systems, ensuring all activities meet pharmaceutical-grade standards, project specifications, and relevant industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspect welding activities on pharmaceutical-grade pipework systems, including orbital and manual TIG welds on stainless steel (typically 316L).
* Ensure welding works are carried out in accordance with approved welding procedures, drawings, weld maps, and quality documentation.
* Conduct visual inspections of welds in line with ASME BPE, EN ISO, or other applicable standards.
* Review and validate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and welder qualifications.
* Liaise with welding teams and subcontractors to address non-conformities and ensure best practice is followed at all times.
* Monitor and maintain full weld traceability, including logs, inspection reports, and material certification.
* Witness pressure testing, flushing, passivation, and other validation-related activities in line with GMP standards.
* Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Engineering and Commissioning teams to support successful system handovers.
* Participate in walkdowns, snag resolution, and turnover dossier preparation.
* Ensure all inspection records are accurately maintained and documented to support regulatory compliance and client audits.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Demonstrable experience as a Welding Inspector on pharmaceutical, cleanroom, or life sciences projects.
* Proficient in orbital and manual TIG welding inspection for stainless steel systems.
* Knowledge of ASME BPE, EN ISO 9606, or other relevant welding codes and clean utility standards.
* Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, weld maps, and technical specifications.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office for report writing and documentation.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Eligible to work in the UK/EU and willing to work on-site as required.
Desirable:
* CSWIP 3.0 or 3.1 Welding Inspector certification (or equivalent).
* Experience working in GMP-regulated environments.
* Understanding of clean utility systems such as WFI, PW, Clean Steam and Process Gases.
* Familiarity with weld traceability software and turnover documentation processes.
