Our client is looking for a highly skilled and driven Accountant to become a key member of their finance team. This essential role focuses on managing the financial aspects of property and infrastructure investments, with an emphasis on budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and driving process improvements related to capital projects. Core Responsibilities: Partner with the Controller to oversee capital project expenditures and ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting. Collaborate with the procurement team to analyze and evaluate project costs. Track investment progress, monitor budgets, manage expenditure timelines, and highlight any financial risks or discrepancies. Assist in the preparation and oversight of maintenance budgets, while keeping track of open commitments and actual spend. Coordinate with the general ledger team to maintain and verify the fixed asset register, and manage asset disposals. Help develop and update Standard Operating Procedures to align with relevant regulations and compliance standards. Assist with both internal and external audits, ensuring all financial compliance requirements are met. Provide support for investment-related committees, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, organizing documentation, and following up on action items. Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes, seeking opportunities for automation and streamlining. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system enhancements, including tools for financial planning and reporting. Suggest and support the implementation of technological solutions that improve efficiency and meet strategic reporting objectives. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, reconciliations, and compliance submissions. Work with the general ledger team to ensure proper asset creation and accurate reporting in accordance with internal approvals and governance guidelines. Assist in generating compliance reports for environmental, sustainability, and regulatory requirements. Skills & Qualifications: A fully qualified accountant with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in financial evaluation and investment analysis. A solid financial background, particularly in capital projects, including accounting, forecasting, and reporting. In-depth knowledge of financial systems, organizational processes, and corporate governance. Practical experience in project management and process optimization. Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP) and data reporting tools. Advanced Excel skills and strong command of Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with legislative frameworks and standards related to capital investment and sustainability reporting.
