Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) is a 150 bedded Tertiary Referral Centre for Maternity, Neonatology and Gynaecology located on the campus of Cork University Hospital. CUMH incorporates the Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatric and Neonatology Services in the Cork University Hospital Group within the Health Service Executive Southern region. CUMH has approximately 7,000 births per annum and is a tertiary referral centre. CUMH incorporates the use of MNCMS (Maternal Newborn Clinical Management System) into care delivered at CUMH.
Purpose of the Post
The post of CMM 2 has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The main responsibilities are: quality assurance, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership, NRP Course preparation and management of NRP exam codes. Audit and record keeping.
The post holder will participate in teaching and mentorship of:
Students participating in undergraduate or postgraduate midwifery programmes.
Newly qualified Nurses/Midwives.
Newly recruited Nurses/Midwives.
All staff who are being facilitated to maintain their clinical competence in conjunction with using MNCMS in CUMH.
Nurses/Midwives with non-EU registration participating in the Adaptation Programmes provided by the Centre of Midwifery Education.
