Health & Safety Advisor at MM Group
Overview
The Site HSE Advisor will work with site management, teams and individuals in order to progress safe working practices and to develop risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Responsibilities
* Stay up to date with relevant legislation and ensure Site MD is informed of same
* Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at the site and that the site is in compliance with current Health and Safety legislation, best practice and approved codes of practice (ACOP)
* Ensure that the site is in compliance with current Environmental legislation, best practice and approved codes of practice and that the site is not conducting practices that could have a negative impact on the environment
* Manage the risk assessment (RA) and safe working operating procedures (SWOP) process and ensure that all Supervisors and Managers regularly review these documents in line with business standards and current legislation, guidance and ACOP
* Deliver the site Health & Safety induction programme for all new starters, contractors and visitors to site
* Manage the near miss and accident reporting processes for health and safety, and the environment, ensuring that all incidents are fully investigated and recorded in line with business standards and current legislation, guidance and ACOP
* Ensure that the site Management team implements all corrective actions established as part of an incident investigation and within the agreed timescale
* Ensure that all health, safety and environmental documentation is current, compliant and up to date with the latest HSE format
* Identify underlying core issues/risks and engage at all site levels with colleagues, site technical staff and management
* Maintain the site register of Interactive Safety Tours (IST) and ensure that all site Managers conduct their tours in alignment with the agreed site schedule
* Conduct internal audits of the site
* Be a hands-on Advisor with accountability for developing the site safety plan and for the continuous updating and monitoring of the plan
* Ensure that the site is compliant with its HSE training
* Facilitate the tri-monthly site safety committee meeting and ensure representation from the site, including the site lead; create and distribute meeting minutes
* Ensure that the site health, safety and environmental information boards are populated and up to date
* Collect and collate weekly and monthly Divisional HSE KPI data
* Manage stocks of PPE and supplies relevant to staff protection and well-being
* Pursue Continual Professional Development in line with departmental objectives and act as a HSE Advisor to Site Management
* Deliver training for staff to improve risk awareness and reduce unsafe behaviours
* Lead investigations of all LTIs and serious near misses, including root cause analysis, with professional reporting and actions
Skills & Competencies
* Hold relevant qualifications
* A working knowledge of formal Management systems
* Be an active member of IOSH or a similar accredited professional body
* Ability to communicate confidently and professionally at all levels within the organisation
* Self-disciplined and able to work autonomously to bring all projects and tasks to a suitable conclusion within agreed timescales
* Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create professional communications

* Experience of health and safety management in the manufacturing industry
