Mechanical Technician
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to fill this role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, installation, and commissioning of custom-built automation machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and subassemblies for automation machinery.
* Work from detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, and assembly procedures.
* Perform precision fitting, alignment, and adjustment of moving parts (e.g., conveyors, robots, packaging systems).
* Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
* Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during build, test, and installation phases.
* Carry out mechanical modifications and continuous improvements as required.
Essential Requirements:
* Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Fitting, Toolmaking, or equivalent trade.
* 3+ years experience in mechanical assembly/build within automation, packaging machinery, or special-purpose equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D CAD drawings.
* Strong knowledge of pneumatics, bearings, drives, and motion systems.
* Hands-on experience with precision fitting, alignment, and use of workshop tools.
Preferred Requirements:
* Experience in pharmaceutical or food industry equipment builds (knowledge of GMP standards).
* Exposure to robotics, delta robots, or cobots in automation environments.
This is a hands-on workshop and site-based role that also requires occasional travel for customer support and site acceptance testing. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
